Nomad Wines - Rhizo 2022

A high energy Riesling bursting with electric acidity and vibrancy, this is one for the Riesling lovers. It has a touch of skin contact, with 10% of the grapes spending three weeks on the skins, which draws out aromatics of hay and honey. 

The name Rhizo draws on Kosie's incredible passion for soil ecology as it comes from rhizosphere, the narrow region of soil or substrate that is directly influenced by root secretions and associated soil microorganisms known as the root microbiome. 

Made by Kosie Van Der Merwe, a young South African winemaker based in the Mosel, Germany who produces wine in both the Northern and Southern hemisphere, either in the Mosel or in the Western Cape. A winemaker and vine grower to keep a close eye on. His German bottlings often celebrate white hybrid varieties, as he has been a key part of helping Jan Klein establish the 'weinwald' at Staffelter Hof.
