Clos Sauvage - ‘Pampa' Mâcon-Chaintré 2024

‘Pampa’ means ‘flatland’ in the Quechua language. The wine takes this
name from the single vineyard where the grapes are grown, as Sophie and David take the Burgundian approach of single-parcel vinifications. It is a large, very flat and clay-heavy parcel which gives the grapes great concentration. This has notes of ripe orchard fruits well balanced with full bodied creaminess, round and rich on the palate but with the freshness and acidity to match. 

Sophie and David of Clos Sauvage have been making wine in a beautiful corner of their region at 450m of altitude on the exact border between Burgundy and Beaujolais since 2018. Their aim from the start has been to create an autonomous farm where vines are grown alongside many other products, where cows and horses roam on adjacent pastures, where bees are kept, and where farmstays are possible.
