Alex Craighead - Ojisan Rouge 2023

Pinot Noir and Syrah. Alex is a master of blending, and this is a beautifully light expression of both grapes, with crunchy fruit, delicate tannins and a lovely hint of earthy spiciness that makes it a perfect pairing for balancing richness in dishes like yakitori, or unagi.

Alex Craighead has been one of the leading figures in New Zealand’s move towards organic viticulture and low-intervention winemaking over the past decade, known for his Kindeli project. Alex has worked in wine all over the world, and has spent much time in Japan, serving as inspiration for the Ojisan project, a collaboration with his friends at Grape Republic. The wines were designed for the Japanese market, and so are perfectly paired with Japanese cuisine.
